Raggo Zulu Rebel – Rice & Peas #Single

Raggo Zulu Rebel deals with it in a 1980’s dancehall style for his latest single ‘Rice & Peas’ which is over the “Nuh Fraid” riddim track produced by Jah SnowCone. To summarize the song is on the surface about Sunday dinner but goes deeper to explore the Ital diet which is part of Rasta lifestyle. Ital is Rastafari vocabulary, linguistics or ebonics for vital or vitality or being essential to life. Ital is a lifestyle choice eating and putting the I primary (I = ever living life force in all things /GOD/JAH/Selassie I). This usually means abstaining from consuming any meat, animal by products, fish, diary, salt, sugar, (cigarettes & alcohol) or anything that urinates, passes feces or menstruates basically the closest thing to what the western world would refer to as a vegan diet. Individual’s lifestyles will vary according to personal needs…

Subverted Kapers – Born Inner Struggle #EP

Let us introduce you to Subverted Kapers, a Midlands duo consisting of rapper Kapes and producer Subvert. Their undiluted authentic Hip-Hop sound pays homage to the past with a modern twist. Subverted Kapers are committed to resurrecting the real essence of the genre. This is real music with a real message and something all real heads will adore.

Currently followed by the likes of Chuck D (Public Enemy), MC Ren (NWA), The Outlawz, Bishop Lamont and more, their debut EP ‘Born Inner Struggle’ is a release that any Hip-Hop act would be proud of. Featuring brother of Tupac, Mopreme Shakur of Thug Life as well as a collection of great solo tracks it’s no surprise the response has been so strong.

Subvert, the crew’s producer began his journey into music at a very young age and has created his own signature sound which has been credited as bringing back the boom bap feel with a fresh twist. Kapes, the rapper of the crew began rhyming in 1998 at the age of 10. He has since went on to perform at Birmingham’s O2 academy and although was not scheduled to, was featured in a BBC 1xtra documentary with Charlie Sloth.

Thought Foundry – Ready For This #EP

Thought Foundry is the newest offering from Platformz Records, the label founded by producer and tech CEO Rediculus. The label is associated with his mobile music app Platformz, which allows users to stream music from multiple streaming sites in one app.

The project titled “Ready For This” is four strong songs covering what lyricist Konflik sees as “things that motivate me to do better”. Questioning everything from the influence of religion on his life and the lives of those around him to ways to enjoy partying, this EP takes us on a musical journey of how Konflik and Rediculus see the world at large and the ways they cope with its effects on them.

From the opening drum licks of “Good Times” to the deep brooding guitars and organs on “Silver”, Rediculus provides the perfect backdrop for Konflik to lace his smooth flow over and ‘Flik doesn’t disappoint as he matches it with thought provoking lyrics and memorable hooks.
